Art Nouveau Pressed Seats | c.1910–1930 A delightfully charming matched pair of early 20th-century bentwood beech café chairs that'll transport your space straight back to a Parisian bistro.

These beauties feature exquisitely pressed Art Nouveau shell-motif seats and those gorgeous continuous loop backs that make them instantly recognisable as proper Thonet-tradition pieces.

A faint stamp on the inside under the rim of both reads 'Made in Poland' giving further provenance. Michael Thoney was the original inventor of steaming beechwood to create bentwood furniture like this and the distinctive organic curved lines marked an exciting move away from the heavy Victorian fashion.

Condition report
Good antique condition with age-expected marks—sound and as sturdy as the day they were made, with a lovely overall patina that only time can create. Please look at the photos carefully as they form part of the item description and there are signs of wear and tear as expected.
